I am essentially a nomad. My home is not a country or a city. It's where I am at peace.

But my travels left a trace of places in my past. And when I want a stroll through time, I fire up Google Earth.

Its aerial view is oddly accurate. It provides this unusual perspective that matches how I feel about the past: it's far away, and I can see it all at the same time.

And then getting into the 3D view. Spotting things that are familiar, sometimes painfully. Noticing things that are new, sometimes painfully.

In a very real way, we are all nomads. Our home is our present. And the world around us is like a train station: it emerges from the darkness, full of structure, colors, realness, only to then be left behind and become a memory. Quickly dissolving. Accessible only through Google Earth.
